For the same Compensation as the 9-11 Families. Do you think this would be Fair?

Yes they should be compensated maybe not on the same scale as 9-11 but they should get something especially considering some people's insurance that they paid in good faith will not give them compensation for their ruined homes it wasn't their fault that the Levy's broke and they were flooded out. And the fact that it was lower income black communities that were hit the hardest and probably didn't have insurance because they couldn't afford it not because they didn't want it. Sure they knew that there was a hurricane coming and would most likely be a direct hit on the city and surrounding areas but they didn't have the means to leave they are poor they have no money or vehicle to get them out of the path of the hurricane and even the government wasn't prepared for the magnitude that Katrina would leave behind where was F.E.M.A.? Why were civilian people rescuing people and giving them food and shelter before even the government was doing it's share to help Americans on American soil, not some far away place that we've never heard of. damn straight they deserve compensation George Bush said he'd be there to help rebuild the city of New Orleans where is he now wasting money fighting a pointless war. Help your own before you go trying to fix somebody else's problems. I think that the people of New Orleans should at least be given what they were promised better Levy's and some help to rebuild their homes and their city .

This two totally different situations. The victims of 911 had no say in the matter. The people in New Orleans should know the facts of living around a Hurricane area. Where I live we have Tornadoes, I know that one day I may see my house spinning up into the air like the Wizard of Oz, but, I choose to live here and not expect others to replace my home or compensate me because I want to live here. I not stupid I know what the consequences may be and willing to take that risk and not at other people's expense.

None of it is fair. People die every day why should people be paid when they die with a large group. What about the guy working graveyard at 7-11 or the school teacher leaving the mall ? Where is the victim fund for these peoples families ?

after dealing with some of the relocatees, I'm gonna go with no.

9-11 affected working class people. Katrina didn't just get them, it got the homeless and the ones that don't contribute to society or contribute negatively. I'd say if they get compensation, they'd better prove their worth and need.

Terrorism... no warning. Hurricane? they say get outta dodge first.

The katrina victims are a bunch of parasites on society. We have given them money, free rent for a year and a half, and sympathy from bleeding hearts who have not had to deal with these people. They are wanting another year and a half of free rent. Here in dallas we were bombarded with the refugees, and our violent crime rate skyrocketed.

I think they need something. Those people have been through hell and the president didn't even mention them in his state of the union address. If they had gotten the help they were promised, I would say no, they shouldn't get comensation, but they didn't even get the basic help they needed and so were mistreated by the government and should get compensation. I also think they need to have their levies rebuilt to a better specification so this tragedy doesn't happen again.

personally i think that any person that has gone through a horrific tragedy such as Katrina or 9-11 should receive some sort of help either through funds provided through the goverment or through the salvation army this is why we pay taxes, this is why we donate to charities.
