Both. She figures you are angry and hurt and as a result will try to take away the child in the divorce proceedings.

She's fearful you're going to try to take custody of her child as a result of a divorce. It has nothing to do with guilt or shame.

Neither. I cannot tell from your question if she admitted or was caught cheating. If she was caught cheating, I would say her answer was due to her genuine concern that due to adultry findings, she could loose custody of her child. She is reacting to how she feels you would retaliate. Even if she did not cheat and you believed that she did.

She is upset with you and may want out of the marriage because she does not love you anymore but she does not want to lose her son either... She does have a genuine love for her son and this is natural.... have you done things to hurt her in this marriage at all? Do you try to control and dominate her?

It doesn't sound like guilt or shame to me, just anger. I would say she is worried that you will divorce her and try to get custody of your son. Perhaps it was something that you said in anger.

No, she just loves her son. I can't tell you how she is feeling but she won't be punished by you using the child. Not that you would. Ask her and maybe that will open the lines of communication. Good Luck

She is showing shame because she knows that she did something wrong and that her husband is probably to divorce her. She wants her baby. Simple as that.

It means she's incredibly selfish and self-serving. You catch her betraying you and all she can say is "you're not taking my son"? Sounds to me like somebody has already mentally packed her bags.

It means that she fears that you will attempt to take her son from her......it does not mean that she is guilty of anything....just means she is protective of her child.
