Ryan, it's people like us that have to stick together. After all, we are walking paths that run side by side. A friend woke me about this question. He was upset and mad that people look at this as a joke. They look at it that way probably because they have never had it happen to them or to someone close to them. Just how many is "A lot of People" ? There seems to be some erroneous Perception that when She says NO, She really means Yes. This is so Wrong. Also, You said "People". Are You including Women ? As to the "Why", just look at most of what passes for Entertainment, the Lyrics in Rap Music, B1tches, Hoes, etc., and Pornography that Exploits Women, who are portrayed as enjoying it, along with S & M. How Depressing !

Because they don't want to think about it being such a tragic thing. Also because we live in a society where we make everything better by making a joke out of it. It's the same thing with racist jokes... there is nothing funny about racism, but people make jokes about it so they don't have to face that it is a huge issue.

I haven't heard that! It isn't a joke at all. Rape is a violent crime that is nothing more than another person having CONTROL over someone else. Personally I think everyone who has raped someone else should be castrated, but alas...the laws don't give people that option.

Rape is not a joke. I would say something really nasty but it would be *******'d out by Yahoo. It's not a joke at all.

The people who see it as a joke are the ones who don't want to admit how heinous it is. Rape isnt about love or sex, its about force and control and anger. By diminishing the violence they make themselves feel its not that bad.

umm... people don't see real rape as a joke... but anything is good for a joke if you're not being serious, whether it's a joke about jewish people frying in an oven or dead baby jokes, or whatever!
it's like how chris rock talking about black people and michael richards talking about black people were two totally different things, because one person was joking and one wasn't.
i'm sure a lot of people here would like it if no "offensive" jokes were ever told. that's a bunch of crap. life would be so boring if everyone always censored themselves.

k can u tell me what kind of ppl you are around...cause i think you need to find a new group to be around, if you think that a lot of ppl see that as a joke.
