If you are moving out of town, wait until you have a place to live and shop there. Then you won't have to move the furniture. You can sleep on the floor a couple nights?

Auctions are a good place, so are charity thrift stores. And don't forget Freecycle...there is a website group close to almost everyone where you post what you want, and what you have, and everything is free. You usually have to haul it yourself and it may need to be cleaned or repaired a little, but often times people just are making room for new, or they are scaling down to a smaller house, etc. At the very least, you can look at the item ahead of time, and see if you want it, if you do, it was free and you can save the money or spend to fix it up or buy something else.

Actually, if you are close to me, I can make you a deal on all that stuff. I am in east Texas and my mom just passed away, trying to downscale my apartment and my mom was a packrat.

Used furniture stores. Be flexible with furniture, for $800 a matching suite is unlikely. Put money into a good mattress and the chest of drawers. Queen frame is cheap. You don't need a headboard, you can make one or paint one on the wall. End tables.........after 37 years I still don't have any! One is a cardboard table I bouth 30 years ago and has a throw over it, the other is a misc end table I just happened to like. Maybe wood 2 drawer file cabinet would serve you better??

You probably want them to match. Try a used furniture store, there should be a few in a college town. Or Goodwill will sometimes have what you need at a really reasonable price.

Estate sales, thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army and Medina Children's home have stores where they sell these items at a low cost. You might also see if there are self storage facilities nearby that might have a donation unit or abandoned goods that they will either let you have for hauling it off or let you purchase at a low price. Best wishes and good luck on going back to school. I'm proud of you!

Try used furniture stores or garage sales.
