You can't think of it as right OR wrong because it is both right AND wrong. Right in the sense that helping others is a good thing to do, but wrong because you have broken the law.
You must decide for yourself which party has the greater need. Will the individual benefit more than the community loses (crime is committed), or will the community benefit more if the individual loses (crime is not committed)?

It really depends. There are a lot of examples of the right thing still being something against the law. But it all comes down to the person taking the chance. Plus, it's within the whole gray area of if you're caught or not caught.

Me for example, if my sister's husband would ever hit her, I would send him to the hospital. No obviously, this would be illegal since I would be assaulting him w/o self defense, but it is the right thing to do in my mind.

Like I said, it depends. How about actually telling the situation so you can get better answers from people. I will look for this question if you do choose to ask it.

Peace

Like many things, it depends. If you are protesting and breaking a few ordinances to protest for a "good" cause, no sweat. Pushing boxes of tea into Boston Harbor was clearly illegal in many, many ways and would definitely be illegal if done today, but the Boston Tea Party helped spark the Revolution and made what our country is today.

But if you are helping a guy, who committed a crime, escape from justice, that's another thing entirely.

Well if it's illegal, then it's prolly not the right way to go about it. I'd suggest them seeking the legal way to get the job done, but then since I am not sure what the illegal thing is.. it;s hard to say. But ask yourself this, what are the consequences and if i get caught is it really worth it?.. If you have kids and you are doing something illegal you are risking loosing your kids, or them loosing you in thier life. generally from experience i'd rather go about things in the legal way its a longer process but it keeps u out of jail.

No, it's not the right thing to do. The is always a right way to handle a situation. It's a good thing that you want to be of help but you can get into trouble and who's going to be there for you. You have to ask yourself if its really worth it. I mean what if some bad happens to you?

Depends on what you are doing. If you are driving without a license because there is no other way to reach help for a dying person, then you could argue that it was justifiable. Pleading justification is hard to defend though, since you have to admit that you broke the law then have to argue that you had a good reason to do so.

You're not helping anyone if its illegal. I can't think of a single scenario where this would be right. Find an alternative way to help. Think.

wow, that's the stuff of legends and novels. it depends on the situation. are you stealing bread for your sister's son or killing a drug dealer who was selling stuff in your neighdorhood? the length and breadth of illegal things is too enormous for anyone to make a blanket statement like that.

if its breaking the law, no. having your heart in the right place still does not excuse a crime
