i just got a beta fish and i have been feeding it multiple times a day like 5-8 little beta bite pellets at a time and it always seems to eat almost whenever i put food in. Do they eat untill they die like some animals.... or is it just hungry?

Using the pellets, feed 4-5 pellets once or twice a day. They will always act hungry and will over eat if you give them the chance. Not enough to drop dead, but enough to cause health problems.

I would recommend that you add some other foods to it's diet as well. Freeze dried or frozen worms of most types are great betta chow. Brine shrimp is great as well. Mosquito larvae make a good treat for bettas. Feed all of these things sparingly, no more than once a day with the other feeding being pellets or flakes.

Best of luck!

you should feed it 2 to 3 times a day and only about 5 pellets at a time.

Yes, bettas, like many fish, will keep eating and eating. I put in about 8-14 pellets per week, and my bettas have lived to be over 1-1.5 years old. I've met people who feed their betta according to what the sticker says, but they don't stay alive very long. Also remember, regardless of what people say, bettas can NOT live in those little bowls comfortably. They need more space.

8 a day is a hearty day of food for a betta. a bettas stomach is fairly upfront and ends before the anal fin -- the big fin on the bottom. if they eat too much their stomach swells and looks like they ate a small pea. overfeeding could lead to constipation or swim bladder problems so its not that good of an idea to overfeed them.

Hi there, in the wild many fish eat and eat because of the uncertainty of future meals Once or twice a day is just fine. I found NutraFin Betta flakes to be more palatable and really make their colors pop. Have a great day.

You only feed it like 3-5 pieces of food ONCE a day and you do not want to over feed it or the tank will get really dirty.

You should only feed it once or twice a day,and only 5-6 pellets. Mine has lived like that for quite a while now,so in my opinion, that's what you should do. :)
