I don't refer to my friends in terms of race, unless I am physically describing them to someone. When I don't understand something about one of my friends' cultures, I just ask. Other than skin color and specific cultural differences, I just can't see that I am different from them. I remember one time I was showing pictures to some co-workers, and one of them said, "This is your friend Pam that you're always talking about? I guess I didn't picture her being black". It took me a while to figure out what she was really saying. What she meant was, "You talk about her as if she were just another person instead of being different". As if I'm supposed to announce the race of the person I'm referring to, so everyone can get an "accurate" understanding. Once I realized that people were, in fact, that shallow, I made it a point to never reveal either my race or anybody else's, unless there was a specific point in doing so.

Sadly, I can't say I do. Counting out acquaintances, I don't. Not by choice, rather my high school is literally 98% Caucasian. I have no problem with people of any other race, and I'd feel much more worldly to know personally people of different cultures, but I really don't have the chance at this point in time.

i'm thrilled to assert that convinced I do have acquaintances from diverse races, i'm a white english woman and performance quite a few darkish skinned acquaintances. in truth i locate darkish skinned acquaintances so a lot more desirable authentic and a tremendous purchase a lot less bitchy. In verbal change they have a tendency ***** a lot less about their households, neighbours and co-workers etc. of direction I have met some darkish skinned those who have not worked as complicated as some thing of the workers and that i have met white skinned who've been only as reluctant to pull their weight. extensively speaking in my journey operating for darkish skinned Ipeople I were dealt with much better and with dignity than I have from fellow whites. although, I do sense that as a white human being i'm at a drawback because to illustrate if a save became about to close they could do if i had to enter, if although darkish human being had to bypass in they could ought to allow it for being accused of being racist. that is the position i imagine the conception of being dealt with diverse with the aid of colour works adverse to us whites.

I don't have any close friends, period. :P
Well, I guess I do. Sort of. They're both (actually, one of them I haven't talked to in months) white, but it's not really because I don't want to be friends with people of other races, it's just because I only make friends with people who make friends with me first, because I can't initiate conversations, and these people happened to talk to me.
I guess I do sort of stereotype other races, a little bit (not so much asians, but mexicans and blacks), but only because the VAST VAST majority of the ones I see actually seem to FIT the stereotype. I do realize they are not all like that, but when I think of "black", I think of a certain type of person (not bad, but not someone I have anything in common with), simply because in my experience, it is more likely that they are actually like that. I'm trying to stop, but it's hard when my experiences reinforce it.

One of my closest friends is mexican. I love him to death. Race should play no part in friendship, love, or even life for that matter.
