A learning aid is anything that assists an instructor in teaching.

A chalkboard or an overhead projector where the teacher can display their work or their notes will help the class. Charts can show them some things and making explaining something as complex as the human body much easier. Construction Paper and paste can be used to help a student express themselves in art.

Then there are individual learning aids like a textbook, or notes taken from a class. Student handouts are also a great help and in most college classes they are a necessity.

The single greatest learning aid I know of is the Internet. With it you can find any article in the encyclopedia, or find any word in the dictionary. You can also find the latest information, but you have got to know yours sources so you know if you can trust them or not. Anyone can post anything they want on the Internet, their views, their opinions, random nonsense, or down right lies. I have seen people do this on this board.

Sources like Webster's Dictionary or Wikipedia you can trust. Each site has a board of directors that makes sure the information posted on those sites is valid and trustworthy. This is very important with Wikipedia since anyone can write an article for the site.

Then you have to look out for the bias of your source.

A first hand account will be slanted in the viewpoint of the observer: it's only natural. A first hand observer is one who actually witnessed the event. Example: Paul Revere wrote an account of an instance when British troops shot a group of peacefully demonstrating Americans.

A second hand account would be incomplete and based on a one or more first person accounts. A second hand account is never made by a witness and in a jury of law evidence given this way is often disallowed and called hearsay evidence. Example: the next day the Boston newspapers carried an account of the incident as told to them by people who were there. In cases like this the accounts given frequently vary.

A third person or objective account is one made after the event and after some time has passed so it can be faced with less emotion. An objective observer looks at all accounts of the incident for a more accurate viewpoint. My encyclopedia articles are written in this fashion. An objective account tries to keep opinion and conjecture out of the account. Example: The TV show Unsolved History explored this account by Paul Revere and drew other facts like how the British troops were trained to act. Their account was that the American crowd was rowdy and the British Officer felt threatened when he ordered a volley file. Paul Revere's account was biased so he could use the incident as propaganda.

So when researching always know your sources and how those sources were arrived at.

Lean over the back of a hard chair (a dining chair) and firmly press into your stomach - a bit like doing the heimlich manoeuvre. Since the force needed to remove a blockage may be enough to cause bruising, get yourself checked out by a doctor to make sure you haven't done any serious damage. A first aid course is a minimum of 12 contact hours for Basic First Aid - prices vary by geography and provider. EDIT - why is this such a bad answer?
