I don't think it was cabbage patch kids, and it may have even been slightly scary. i can vaguely remember it. she goes into her closet or maybe even under her bed with her dolls to this totally different world. i remember that the girl was "real" not animated and the dolls were like puppets/muppets. this has been buggin me all week!!

I had to look this one up but I think you are talking about the Hugga Bunch movie. (found out about it thru imbd.com) I remember seeing it when I was little...In this movie she goes thru her mirror to the land of the hugga bunch. Hope this helps.

The closest movie I can think of is "Labyrinth". Jennifer Connely, David Bowie.
She goes into another mythical type realm to save her baby brother. All the characters in that realm are muppet-like, and they're reflective of some of the dolls in her bedroom.
