Scout Finch lives with her brother,Jem,and their widowed father,Atticus,in the sleepy Alabama town of Maycomb.

Maycomb is suffering through the Great Depression, but Atticus is a prominent lawyer and the Finch family is reasonably well off in comparison to the rest of society.

The great depression started in 1929, and to kill a mockingbird was written a year later.
So the link would be that the characters who are represented in the book were all living during a depression. That scenes dipicted in the book tell of poor peoples plight in a small town. It Also highlights the rights (or lack of)of black people during this time in America.

haha I love that Book, Ummm its kind of hard to explain. African Americans were eshewed in that time. And remember this story took place in the south during the 1930's I think. Umm And when your in poverty you'll make up any story just to get some money out of it. Sorry this might of not helped!

Look at the poverty of the black workers in the story as well as that of Maybelle's family.
