Well I have had three kids and experienced that everytime. It uncontrollable heartburn more than likely. I know it sounds too extreme to be just heartburn but it was and it felt like a knife stabbing through my chest into my back. Make sure you tell your dr. about it and eat less spicy food. But that isnt always helpful, try not to lay down after you eat and if you have it and are sleeping or laying down try your left side first see if that releases any pressure, then your right. One side used to feel better to me than the other. Just cant remember which exactly. Laying on your back makes it worse! Water on a daily basis is also helpful. Good luck , congrats and hope this helps!!

Because you are pumping more blood your heart can actually skip beats and it causes that stabbing pain for me. I wouldn't guess heartburn, but I would think that a doc would say that to brush off the idea of something worse. It shouldn't last for so long though- so you need to tell the doctor.

Well, heartburn in pregnancy can be very painful. Take some Tums and lay on your right side. If it doesn't help, call your doctor. It sounds like heartburn but never hurts to check.

I had what seemed like chest/upper abdominal pain when I had a gall bladder attack suddenly 6 weeks after my first daughter was born. The pain wasn't the typical ache on my right side, it was in the center of my upper abdomen and all up my back. It was the result of pancreatitis, which I had developed as a result of gall stones. Hope you feel better!
