Your question has helped me to stop and think. Thanks.
The very last thing I said to my husband was, "Please dry the clothes that are in the washer before you leave for work."
I will be more selective about what the last words are that I say to my loved one each night before we retire to bed.

He usually says, I'm going to bed. He gives me a kiss and we both say I love you. Typically even when we fight and don't talk for hours, it's the same routine before bedtime. As mad as I am, I will always say I love you. Because I do.
Just recently my husbands brother had a brain aneuyrism out of nowhere. They performed surgery. He came out of surgery and seen his wife of almost 30 years. He said, I love you. He started having seizures and was in a coma for the next couple of days. He never came out of it.
That's definitely a wake up call. He was on his way to work when he passed out. Was fine the night before surgery. Last words was telling his wife that he loved her. We all said, she's grieving, but it's got to help knowing those were the last words that he ever said to her.
You really don't know if you will wake up on earth the next day.

Nothing, we don't talk much anymore. We are married, but she has made our relationship more like room mates. She said goodnight to the cats, they are higher on the list of impotant things then I am.

We always tell each other we love them. We talk about how much we treasure our time together as I rub his back and neck to help him relax. He usually falls asleep while I am rubbing his back so we make sure to talk first.

Glad you made that point because it is true.
I told him his feet stink and he might need to check them into a podiatrist clinic. :)
