I've always heard scars can take 6 months or so to find out how it'll really look. Important to use sunscreen during that time! If it does scar more than you like, your doc can suggest creams, or in severe cases mild surgery to reduce the scar. Good luck

Well, which would look worse, the lump or the scar?

There are treatments for minimizing and even eliminating scars, but most of them CAN'T BE USED NEAR EYES. Before you consider any scar-removing treatment, read the instructions and warnings, which will almost certainly say AVOID EYE AREA.

You should consult two professionals-- a cosmetic surgeon and an opthamologist (an opthamologist is an optometrist who made it through med school.) Don't go into the nearest doctor's office for a quick slice'n'dice if you want to ensure you don't have a scar.

Facing your fears is overrated. If you're afraid of something, whatever the reason, it's natural to hide from it. Don't feel ashamed to hide. You might start by explaining to your children that this isn't funny, and they should respect and support you. How would they like it if you laughed at their fears? You need to find a way to feel safe when it happens - I don't know how. Maybe your family can help you out somehow. Maybe you could read about the subject (on a clear, sunny day) and find out some facts about it, like how unlikely it is to strike you. I also have a theory that thunder and rain mimic the sounds an unborn infant hears in her mother's belly. Rain must sound a lot like blood rushing through arteries, and thunder like the explosions of gas bubbles inside her intestinal tract. I find the sounds very soothing, which means my mother must have had a happy pregnancy. Infants always pick up on their mother's emotions. Maybe your mother had a stressful pregnancy? Just a thought.

I was riding my bike when i was about 8 and fell face foward into glass. I am 29 and i can only point out one little scar on my forehead. I think it depends on how you take care of them. I have always used vitamin e oil and massaged the cut, it should help quicken the healing process

Assuming that it is benign then the decision comes down to how do you personally scar. Some people scar worse than others.
Since it's on your face you will need to have a board certified plastic surgeon remove it.
good luck

Quantum-Touch may help in repairing soft tissue and help the scar to go away. You could also try QT on the lump to see if it will go away before you resort to surgery.
