For example, I want to travel the world when I get older....do you think looks have anything with me being able to do that?

How about other people...have you ever noticed where looks might limit some people...for example, a short man not getting a job?

I think the only thing limiting us is our own ignorance. Looks do not limit me from anything.

If you want to travel the world when you get older looks and the like are no limit to doing so if you have the resources to do it.

I have read of studies done where children who were better looking and dressed better actually got more attention in school. And, yes, some companies do have some standards they look for in the looks of the people they hire. I don't know of any specific examples to give you but I have come across that information. Perhaps these days that is no longer the case for it would be "politically incorrect."
I am taller than the average woman and I have always felt this to be an advantage for me.

What you look like doesn't mean much, but if you let it dictate your life negatively, then you are letting it limit what you can achieve. You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. There is no reason your looks should prevent you from travelling the world or getting a job, unless you lack the confidence in yourself to do these things. Don't let your looks rule your life, because with time everyone's looks fade. Make the most of what you have and enjoy life. Take care : )

You want to travel the world, yet worry about working for someone else? Short men get jobs, though they, on average, are not paid as tall men are. We are evolved this way, but we are also evolved to acquire the resources to ameliorate any imperfections in symmetry. Resources or status will carry you far when you lack other avenues of advancement. By resources, I do not necessarily mean just money; brains/skills will do. By status, I do not mean only authority. Look at Richard Dawkins and Lala Ward. Then consider Aristotle Onassis and Jackie Kennedy. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. We are not slaves to the influence of our genes, any more than we are free of that influence. There is a wide middle ground, there.

Unfortunately looks still plays a role, even in traveling.
When you stand out, you stand out, but that's not limited to you face. I'm taking about everything.
I went back to my home country and everywhere I went people would stare at me. I'm 5'10'' 210lbs. That's fine here in the states but my people - average guy is 5'4 120lbs so I look like a beast to them. So ya looks do have a huge factor in traveling.

Good luck

In my profession, looks do not matter, it's how much crap you are willing to take from kids, parents, admin....sorry, had a bad week.....I teach special ed. I could have an extra eye, weigh 400 pounds, with a deformed arm and no teeth and I would have job security. NOBODY wants my job......LOLOLO

No, but we can create barriers due to our fears and blame it on an insecurity. Not to say life doesn't have limits, but if it weren't for courageous people pushing boundaries progress would never been made for anyone. So imagine yourself boundless, and you'll be amazed how far you can go with shear determination!
