Ok, the best film Diane Keaton has ever been in, and my favorite of movies she's been in is, yes, The Godfather.
However, I would hardly call The Godfather (or Godfather 2 or 3) a "Diane Keaton film".
To me, to be a "[insert actor's name here] fil" [insert actors name here] should be the male or female lead, or at the VERY least be a really strong supporting character that steals the movie.
So, without a doubt I've gotta go with Annie Hall.
Her portrayal of the mindset of that time. Annie Hall, with the subject matter of Woody Allen, proves that Keaton is a world clas performer.
-----------
I've got to add though, as an honorable mention, and one of the funniest damned scenes ever, the final scene of Bananas wher Keaton's character and Allen's finally have sex is hillarious!!! although much of the scene is stolen by Howard Cosell

The best film she was in was of course the Godfather series.....but she wasn't that good in them. And I don't think of Godfather movies as Diane Keaton movies...they are pacino films.
My favorite Diane Keaton film is Annie Hall. First off....she looked great. She was a great foil for Woody. They obviously had the chemistry down pat. Her character was great.,..and she was well suited for the script. The whole sequence at her family's home in the Midwest was just amazing.

Annie Hall...I do also love The Godfather films, but I think that Annie Hall shows more of her acting abilities, and allows her to be more than a wife.

Both Father of the Bride 1 and 2. She did really well in these, of course you can not go wrong when you are starring with Steve Martin

I also like the father of the bride movies. They are simple, but they have just enough humor. The way she interacts with steve martin is perfect.
