I don't know where you live, but all I had to do to get married was fill out a one page document, sign it, and have a justic of the peace perform a simple ceremony. I believe to get your name changed would involve lawyers, court, and multiple documents. Just a thought.

You can't marry your mate without the paperwork...just not possible! But, you can change your last name, it's VERY simple, you go to your courthouse and tell them you need a petition for a name change! Walla! It's done. But it doesn't mean that you are husband/wife. Just that you have the "mates" last name.
It means about as much as me giving one of my kids YOUR last name, because I can do that! LOL

Yes its possiable to change your name, but you wont be married, I acctually have been thinking the same thing, since we share everything. In the end how ever it would be cheaper to get married, just the cost of a license, and the cost of a minister or judge. A name change can cost $1000.00 + depending on where you are from.

I dont think you can marry without paper work and if you want to change your name this will definitley take paperwork and money.

You will probably have to go to court just as if you were changing your name for other reasons. It's alot easier when you get married because you just bring your Marriage license to the Social Security office.

well if you mean thinking it would be easier, it's actually more expensive to just change your name. if you mean cuz you're not allowed or soemthing, i guess that would be cute but wouldnt really change anything legally.
