The only benefit to SLI is making nVidia twice as much money. You pay twice the money, for two identical video cards, and get only a 0-30% performance boost. Just spend more money for a faster video card to start with, it's by far the best way to go.
Also, hardly anyone knows this, and nVidia certainly isn't going to tell you, but NO video game can even use SLI unless that game was written to take advantage of it. There will actually be games you won't even be able to play, if you go SLI, and there will be many more that will just completely ignore your second card. One fast card is ALWAYS the way to go, with a gaming computer.

It has a benifit when running very high resolutions. Goto www.tomshardware.com for the facts. They put SLI, crossfire, and single cards to the test. The reviews on video cards give you a much clearer picture of what to expect.

More performance, when one card can't give you the edge, make two cards work together.
