I've asked several people about this, and I get different answers every time. When colleges ask for your high school GPA, are you supposed to count your 9th year grades into the average too? Will 9th year grades affect their decisions whether to accept you or not? What about cuts or referrals?

They count for 25% of your GPA. Yes, they are included when a college asks for your GPA.

Typically, your high school transcript that colleges request will include your 9th grade year, since that is a year of high school. The GPA that's given to you by your school or your counselors includes all of your high school work, not just certain years. It would be ill-advised for you to recalculate your GPA, since colleges will have your transcript and will see that there's a discrepancy.

Freshman year grades can have an effect; if they were bad but they improved throughout high school, colleges like that. It shows them that you started off badly, but worked hard and brought your grades back up. If the grades start off good and get worse, it sends a red flag to colleges. They wonder if you've stopped caring about your grades and if you'll be willing to do the work required at the college level.

I am in 8th grade right now, and they are starting to tell us this kind of stuff. They say that many people flunk off the first semester of 9th grade and it haunts them for the rest of highschool. Yes, it does count to your grade point average, so even from the first day of high school you have to try to get and maintain a good grade point average. I guess if you want to get into the college of your choice, you have to work your butt off all four years. So try your hardest to do the best!!

There are many things that go into consideration. Your GPA is one of them but also any groups you belong to, volunteer work you do, courses you take, and how well-rounded you are as a person.

Your 9th grade year will average with your 10th, 11th, and 12th. Don't worry so much about your 9th grade year (unless it is really low). Do you absolute best in school and get as high of a gpa as you can. It will help you get scholarships.

Asalamualaikum

and yes, you count your 9th grade as well. The least year that probably matters when applying to universities and what not is 12th grade.
