With the exception of getting elected, and getting into the public eye....can you name anything he has done?

Don't say he's charismatic or personable, I want to hear about WHAT he has done.

Don't take the easy road, tell me what he has done, and why you support him.

The lack of supportive answers only reinforces the idea that he is not a suitable choice for any nomination.

TAYLOR, just to let you know, since by your answer I can tell you didn't, he was NEVER the Governer of Illinois. You might want to actually read something about him before you state incorrect facts.

Comparing Obama to lincon is just as rediculous as when Dan Quale compared himself to JFK. And we ALL remember the fit the left went into about that. Yet the left will compare Obama to JFK? That's a bit of a double standard.

I support Sen. Obama because he has consistently fought for issues of fairness and conscience. From his work as a community organizer, civil rights attorney and state senator, to his votes of conscience in the Senate that support items from the Oversight of CIA Interrogation and Detention Amendment (which attempts to limit the CIA's use of questionable tactics that may violate human rights, not to mention U.S. law) to a variety of vital appropriations bills (see source below) to increasing funding for after school programs by $51.9 million by reducing the salaries and expenses in the Department of Labor's bloated bureaucracy, to his drive for ethics reform in national politics, Senator Obama has demonstrated a consistency of good character and genuine caring for his fellow man that precious few present-day leaders possess.

In addition, Sen. Obama is on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Veterans' Affairs Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee. As a state senator, he worked steadily on bipartisan programs that gave over $100 million of tax cuts and spearheaded legislation to mandate that law enforcement agencies record interrogations, after several inmates on death row were found to have been falsely convicted.

Yes, by national standards, he is relatively inexperienced in the political sphere. But then there was that other one-term Congressman from Illinois who became president... oh right, President Abraham Lincoln.

At this present state of utter disillusionment, virulent partisan politics and in the middle of another Vietnam of our causing, we need someone that we believe can do the best job to give hope back to a saddened populace. We select that person by, yes, looking at their past accomplishments, but more importantly by evaluating whether or not they acted in a consistent way that reflects a clear, honorable value system; that shows that they took the time to research all sides and fairly measure out which is the best solution for this country as a whole, not the best answer that reflects the party line.

We could name countless politicians who have more experience, but how well have the majority of them served us lately? How many have taken the time to listen to the people's needs? How many truly are open to debate to enrich the political life of this nation? I can name them on one hand.

That's why I support Senator Barack Obama.

Oh, that and he's charismatic and personable.

He's your classic underdog and America loves the underdog. Half white/black, broken family, smart kid made good and got educated and became Gov of Illinois (Lincoln's State). A couple of years ago America never heard of him and now he's a household word and already more popular than all the presidential candidates. I'd say he's a pretty impressive guy. Don't underestimate this guy...he stands alone and he stands apart. That alone makes him popular with the masses and perhaps all the "accomplishment" he needs. Stay tuned.

His Mommie was a atheist ;and he had the balls to say mommie I am a follower of a ultra lib United Church that will let any thing in as long as you help fill the collection plate. Maybe he is a christian .That in its self is a great accomplishment !!But that alone does not a President make. The one we have now said he was a believer.
God forbid we get worse.

He has proven himself to be a depicted public servant who has pushed for universal healthcare and governmental reform, including public funding of elections.

As for support, I think Richardson or Edwards would make a much better President, but he would make a wonderful VP and president in 2016.
