I, and millions of others like me, work rather hard for a very miniscule paycheck. so where are our fans? Where are our cheerleaders? Why is it that we don't get cheered on wherever we go for doing what we're paid to when we do our jobs for so much less than pro athletes do?

You are trying to compare apples and oranges. I too think that pro athletes are WAY overpaid. A face value ticket to the Superbowl is $600, and many are being sold for a lot more than that. However, sports is a way to forget about your problems, if only for a couple of hours. Sports is an escape.
If you don't have any fans, then you need to take a good hard look in the mirror. I don't know your situation, and I am not making any judgements, but I have cheerleaders and fans. Every time I walk into the door, I am greeted by the kids, the dogs, and whatever other creatures happen to be at the house at the time. My biggest fans are my wife and kids, as well as the rest of my family. I recently lost my job, through no fault of my own. I had so many people rally around me it really made me proud. So, I do have a great fan base, and yes I will be cheering on my beloved Bears in the Superbowl.

These pro athletes are the best in the world at what they do. The best in the world at most other professions, doctor, businessman, scientist, etc., make a lot of money as well, although you may not hear as much about them. The fame arises from the nature of what they do - nobody would pay $500+ for a ticket to a surgery, a business meeting, or a physics experiment, but tens of thousands will do so to watch a sporting event.
While it may not be right that these athletes make millions to play a game for fun, while those who work just as hard at a real job make far less, the fact is that sports are so popular and there is so much money to made that these guys are simply making their market value - and actually due to things like the salary cap, are making less.

because a lot more people can do the day to day type jobs, not many people can throw a pigskin when a 300 lb monster is running full speed at him and much less throw it to the right person

honestly, its the economics of it all.
the people qualified to succeed at professional sports are far less in number compared to the people qualified to sit behind a computer and punch buttons, or build houses, or arrest criminals, etc.

and i care about the superbowl

I care! It's fun, and it's a time for friends to get together and cheer for our cities. It's a time to remember our childhoods. It's a time to be with friends, and there is nothing wrong with that. Go Colts!
