I know it's not the Bellagio or Caesers, how does it compare to Monte Carlo(we stayed there in May). Does the Luxor have better rooms than Ballys? My husband says it's just a place to sleep but I want a decent room. The room at the Monte Carlo was clean but nothing fancy. Just want to make sure Bally's rooms are about the same.
Also what kind of rooms there are better? What about the Excallibur?

In order of preference, Luxor, Monte Carlo, Bally's. Excalibur isn't awful or anything, but unless you have a little one to entertain I would stay away.

I like the Pyramid rooms at Luxor, especially the jacuzzi suites in the Pyramid. No, it's not the Venetian of Caesars, etc, but then again, none of the hotels you mentioned are "beneath" me either.

I look for value. this is my favorite site to check LV room rates

Coast Casinos will price match the best rate you can find. Harrah's will price match also and discount that rate 25%>Harrah's doesn't make it easy though.

I've been to both, but years ago. Wasn't wild about the Luxor (stayed in the pyramid), but was really turned off by Ballys (and it wasn't just the room - the general demeanor of the staff was sullen - maybe was after a hectic weekend - I dunno). Things may have changed by now though.

I don't know anything about the Monte Carlo, but I've also been to Excalibur. I can't say anything really bad about it, other than the whole theme is kind of garish and childish. I guess the Casinos you've named are pretty much at the lower end of my list (the absolute bottom is Circus Circus) and I've quit staying at them.

We stayed at Bally's about a year ago, and were planning on staying in a standard room, however they offered to upgrade our room to a suite for an extra $25 per night. We did it, and it was the most AMAZING and huge room! The only complaint I have is that we had to call hospitality 3 times before the sent someone up to clean the bathtub that had a weird sludge on it. But once that was taken care of, it was perfect!

Have fun!

Never stayed there. I wouldn't either. For the same price, I think Monte Carlo or Luxor is better.
Also consider Price vs. Convienence.
Find out how far you have to walk from the parking lot to your hotel room. You have to walk nearly a mile in some hotels. As for Monte Carlo, the parking lot is right behind the hotel. You can walk out of your hotel and the strip is right there.

I work in Las Vegas I have always enjoyed the Rio. Excalibur is a bit dated but still ok. Never been to Ballys tho.

Bally's is just an older classic hotel and casino here in Vegas. It's certainly not a dump if that's what you're asking!! And, as far as your husband is concerned, it's not just a place to sleep. You need to sleep comfortably and safely!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it fine!

Aloha from Down Unda!

Gee, it's not real clear as to why, but after 5 trips to Las Vegas, we've never gotten beyond the front door of Bally's :-( And we've visited 80% of the Strip & Downtown Hotels!

We will put it on our list of the things to do, check it out on Wednesday to get a better idea as to why. My hunch is simply that it's too 'generic' of olden days, with no special attractions or features to compete with the rest of 'fabulous' Las Vegas.

[2 days, 14 hours n 5 minutes, til we board for our flight to Viva La$ Vega$, but who's countin...tick tick tick ;-]]

I have stayed there 3 out of 4 times of going to vegas, and for the money it is great. Good location, nice clean rooms and great restuarants. not to mention it is attached to PARIS.
if you don't want something extremely fancy then this is the perfect hotel.
Hope that helps and good luck if your gambling :-)

Maybe best to have a person like myself who has accounts at nicer but moderate spots. I've seen lots of folks who tell me aweful stories when being cheap was most important. OH Believe me, IT DOES MATTER.

Besides tell your husband that usually for $12 to $20 mor, you can get a much better room at a much nicer place and YOU BOTH WILL BE HAPPY. Check out my site and tell me what you think.

Plan on going soon? let me know
