its fine, unless its 100% black and has noting to it, but yeah make sure to wear lots of accesories, so that it can give it some color.

At one time, wearing black to a wedding was as taboo as wearing the same color as the bride. It’s not so any more. Now, wearing black is deemed fashionable, classic, and perfectly acceptable. You may still get a dirty look from some that are not in the know, but that will be rare. Have courage, and proceed. Wear black accessories with colorful outfits. Choose a black accessory to go with whatever you’re wearing. This could include a scarf, a tie, a necklace or a belt. This is appropriate no matter how you feel about wearing black to a wedding and it is also a nice accent. Try on colored accessories with a black dress. If you wear a black dress, consider one with polka dots or stripes if you’re uncomfortable with all black. You can also wear a colorful scarf around either your neck or your waist. This adds in a bit of color, breaks up the black and is incredibly fashionable. You can also wear different-colored shoes to break up the black

Is it all black or are there some touches of white or other colors? And does it have some sort of pattern (even if it's only in select places)? If it's all black and it's a plain dress, I wouldn't wear it, but if it has a little lace or some beads or something, then that's fine.

No reason why you can't wear a black dress to a wedding since many magazines are showing brides-maids dresses in black.

Black always elegant, but if you are going to a wedding that is during the day in a beautiful garden or something like that, I will recommend to wear something more spring obviously depends of the season and the weather, I don't know where you are located.
But black always is great ! go for it

Black can be depressing. If you don't have anything else maybe you can jazz it up with some colorful accessories/shoes. I have seen people wear black to a wedding and I didn't really think anything of it.

It's not rude at all.
Black dresses can be quite formal and appropriate for weddings.

I've heard it's fine nowadays. Maybe accessorize with something non-black (if you're feeling uncertain). Just don't wear a white dress =D

I dont think it is rude, but i dont think it is a good place or event to wear black, i mean think about it, it is a weeding, so that means two persons are getting happy, and black it is not a happy color
