I can't believe it ...... I think I will be in shock for a very long time. Maria made the game look so easy for Serena. I was really hopeing for Maria to win.

Bit of a let down to say the least. Wasn't a match deserving of a final.

I think it was kind of sad the way Maria, the world number one, and top seed in the Aussie Open, went down so easily to Serena Williams, an unseeded player. I knew Serena would win even before the match began cos she is usually on cue in the finals but I didn't expect that scoreline. It might as well have been a double bagel cos Sharapova had absolutely no answers to Serena's game. This is the second consecutive women's final match in the Aussie Open where the match ended too soon. Last year's match was even worse, with Henin-Hardenne retiring midway through the second set after only managing to win a single game in the first set. I think injuries, lethargy and the poor performance of the finalist, such as Sharapova, has a lot to do with the absurd scheduling of the Aussie Open. And these players have played tennis for two consecutive weeks, mostly under extreme heat... yes, the roof is closed when the heat reaches a certain degree, but I think her first round encounter with Camille Pin really had taken a toll on her, and she came into the finals not in the best conditioning, and she was playing a player who would never give up. I think the Aussie Open tournament officials should move the slam to March when it's autumn in Oz. That's the reason the Oz Open is my least favorite slam of the 4.

It's great for American tennis, which really needs a boost, that Serena Williams won; she certainly deserved to win since she was unseeded and worked very hard to play her way to the finals from an 81 ranking. However, I am disappointed that Maria Sharapova could not make more of match of it. Throughout the tournament she did not play with the dominance that Serena did, but Maria is ranked number one in the world, so she should have played with a little more confidence, I would think...

it looks like a one sided match which Serena Williams dominated for most of the match. arguably the easiest win for her in the final. Maria Sharapova completed disoriented & whitewashed.

Well, I didn't have a favorite, however I was hoping for a fighting game. Usually Maria Sharapova put up a good fight, but she didn't have it tonight. I thought the game was boring to say the least.

Serena really stepped it up. I didn't think she had it in her.

I love Maria...she's hot...but she really showed a lack of class with her speach. She spoke too long and was sucking up to sponsors. The crowd cheered for the first 30 seconds...then was silent for the last 4 minutes of her spew.
