My second daughter was big from the word go. They found her to above average at all the ultrasounds. The last ultrasound I had with her at almost 38 weeks showed her to be 10 plus pounds and in transverse presentation. So of course they are like there is no way to vagnally deliver her since I struggled with my first that weighed in at 8 punds 4 1/2 ounces. I did luckly have a doctor who was willing to attempt to push her down a little. So they had me lay on my back and not move and they pushed her head down as far as they could get it and then rolled sheets on either side of the uterus and held them in place with the monitor bands so she couldn't move back up. Well after one heck of an epesiotomy and my knees being shoved to my earlobes she litterally flew out as my mother calls her our little watermelon seed. She flew out with such force she covered all 5 people on the receiving end in fluid. And to alls suprise she weighed 8 pound 5 ounces. Ultrasound can be off by a pound in either direction. Good luck

My son was born at 10 pounds, 1 ounce and was 22.5 inches long. They told me basically my entire pregnancy that he was a "big baby" but I still wasn't expecting him to be that big! At my 37 week appointment he felt huge so they sent me for a Level 2 ultrasound where his measurements were "off the charts." They guessed that day (according to the ultrasound) that he was 8 pounds, 15 ounces. He was born via c-section 6 days later at 10lbs, 1 oz - so I guess sometimes they are right!
I just found out that I'm pregnant with baby number 2! I wonder if this baby will be a big one too!

My youngest grandson always appeared larger during ultrasound. Her last one shows him to be over 9 pounds but the dr stated she 'doesn't believe' those things.. Well.. my daughter was forced to deliver a 10 pound boy naturally.. and..um.. needless to say the 3 epsiotomies weren't enough.. she needed 2 hours of stitches to repair the damage.. Don't let your dr put you thru what she went thru.. please.. she was a young mother and that a$$hole dr didn't think she would have that big of a baby.. Wrong again.... As a result, the boy was life flighted to a larger hospital an hour away because his heart was bruised during the delivery and now he has 1/2 the speed heart rate then he should have.. Luckily he can live just fine with that....

No, but I'm scared I'm going to have a big baby this time. I'm 22 weeks w/ #2 and my boyfriend's mom had 8-10 pounders! We go in for the ultrasound on Wednesday.

my child was born at 9lbs 4 oz. the doctors never said anything at all about him being big (weight-wise) the entire time. seeing as he was my first child, i didn't notice any bigness in his ultrasound photos :P
