I'm not sure exactly what got him kicked out of the school or whatever.

But the controversy is a documentary that Gore narrated/hosted called "An Inconvenient Truth" which is pretty much just about how the world is going to end if you think about the weather patterns, polution, overpopulation and whatnot.

google it.

The controversy essentially mirrors the whole Evolution vs. Intelligent Design thing. Al Gore is a proponent of economic awareness and has created a fantastic film portraying the effects industrialization have had on the planet. A father in one of the school systems where "An Inconvenient Truth" was being shown decided that global warming is a God given curse sent to punish mankind... something about Armageddon and the Judgement. Anyhow, he wants a different viewpoint taught in the schools, one that apparently states that global warming isn't caused entirely by man- yeah... right...

their is no controversy. Al Gore has been concerned about global warning ever since he saw a "prophetic" lecture by a prof. at a university. He has been obsessed, in a good way, with saving the world for your kids to live in. Pretty noble if you ask me.

The place that banned his movie book was probably that same Kansas school board that started teaching creationism and treating evolution like it was worthless theory

Al Gore published a book and produced a movie both titled "An Inconvenient Truth" describing the many well-documented facts about global warming due to increased greenhouse gas emission into the atmosphere since the beginning of the industrial revolution.

It's a compelling presentation showing the increase in global temp which correlates precisely with the increased levels of greenhouse gases and with the rapid disappearance of polar ice, glacial receding etc. If you see it with an open mind you will learn lots from it.

The book is controversial ONLY because the present administration would like to deny global warming, in contradiction to 98% of the scientific community and the rest of the world as a favor to the power plant/ oil industries (the major contributors of greenhouse gas emissions). For that reason it's a political issue in the US and nowhere else in the world...

They called a moratorium on the movie, because they want the teachers interested in showing the movie to present alternative theories to global warming.

Exaggeration of Global Warming effects or not, I watched part of this movie at Wal Mart, they were running it on their display TVs. Gore was showing slides of places which have been continuously under snowpack for hundreds, if not thousands of years, completely snow free in the "after" photos.

So what? Less snow means fewer skiers right? Sure, it also means less drinking water for any living thing residing below those places. No snow in Winter means no snowmelt runoff in Spring, which means no streams and rivers, which means people and animals must relocate to find water sources, or perish.

Even if Global Warming is a natural trend (and there is credible evidence of this, Those who dont believe we are artificially raising the temperature of this planet (Anti- GW) believe when measuring devices for temps were first installed for taking regular readings, they were in completelty secluded rural areas, with no populations. Now those same areas are urbanized, and cities are obviously going to be warmer than country areas and this accounts for the higher reported temps around the globe. Of course, this says nothing about the fact there is a LOT less snow in winter in areas which always have incredible snowpack.

His movie, "An Inconvenient Truth" ought to be shown to every school kid.
Hell's bells!...Even the 'Decider' in Washington is showing signs of coming-around and -kicking and screaming- allowing for the possibility that not only is global warming real but that we are fast approaching the point of no return for reversing the problem.

Whatever school banned the movie/book ought to be closely scrutinized for its political leanings. Al Gore's film is profound and timely. Schools or public institutions that would ban the truth, or ban free thought, are corrupt and are of the kind of mindset that would condone book burning. Given the lofty ideals that this great country was founded upon, can we really tolerate such political censorship? I should hope not!

Nothing besides his wacky global warming nonsense. I'd ban it too without real proof that we're the cause and its not natural. I refuse to believe we're so great that we caused this giant planet to change. We are simply not that good. If the left can ban religion and Tom Sawyer than we can ban his crap!

I don't know, but let me tell you this in the few minutes that I got to personally speak with him I found him to be one of the most down to earth people that I had ever met and caring too. He showed it both in his words and actions. He is a good guy I wish he would have made if for President. I still wish he would run again. Thanks for sending that link of his I just put the following there when he asked us to send a message to our legislators"

Slavery by means of coercion and force are wrong, it hurts our society and keeps slavery going. Do you want to help fight poverty, abuse in all forms, corruption, and drugs? Just ask me what "we" can do-

Some day we have to care about the real truths in our world and do some thing real to change things. If Al has found this out then I believe him and I think you ought to think about it and do something about it, just like I think you ought to stop psychiatric lies and NAMI lies. There is no scientific evidence for any of what they are doing. Read and educate yourself to the full extent. It is those of us that are willing to go outside of the modern day paradigms and investigate the truths that will change things. We are the only ones that can.
