You question isn't very specific.

If you mean RAM, then yeah, reboot.

If you just want to completely free up space on a drive, then format.

If you want to remove sensitive data from the hard drive permanently then that eraser program justin mentioned is pretty good and free. I use it.

A program called eraser. google it. Then set the level to Gutman it will overwrite thirty some odd times. Better then the military.

Sledgehammeris the best way.

There can still be data recovered no matter how much you erase.

right click on your hard drive and click Format.

hit format
