Does anyone have any information about a childrens residential home in Waterford in the 1940s. I believe it was run by two sisters. Or can anyone tell me where I can get information about this home.

I know that there was a children's home in Waterford around that time know locally as "the good Shepard's" house which is now sheltered housing for elderly people it is on the corner between bunkers hill and the cork rd. Waterford.

It was run i believe by the Sisters of charity order. If you are looking for someone in particular you would be able to get some information from the south eastern health board , the sister of charity themselves or Barnardos.

The nearest church to the house would be probably ballybricken church which is still in everyday use its located on the Mayors walk Waterford and they would have records of all baptisms communions and confirmations that would have taken place there at that time . Hope this is of some use to you.
