A friend of mine did this.....she simply hired an attorney and they went before the judge and he officially changed her name. That was the easy part...changing all of her documents was a nightmare for her. Think about it before you do it. A lot of the time you can keep your real name and just have someone else call you by your preferred name - kinda like a nickname. Good luck.

Just make sure it's something you've been wanting a long time, and stick with it.
Everyone has a right to change their name once to something that they feel suits them best, more than once, even.
but changing it more than once seems kind of flighty and flakey, so like a tattoo, you should be sure it's something you can live with at 80 and still like it as much as you do now.
