I was reading this one question where a girl said that a female wrestler was her role model. One loser replied saying that she was pathetic because she idolized someone who was nothing, but an actor and knew what was going to happen. Why does that matter? Why can't a pro-wrestler be a role model? Most wrestlers aren't vicious backstabbing people, they work hard for their money, they entertain people(which is no different from football players and other sport athletes) most of them are nice to their fans, they are underdogs because most non wrestling fans ignore and disrespect them because it is predeterminded. Movies are predetermined, but no one complains. Is it the violence? Violence is involved when being a security gaurd or police officer. No one dares disrespect them. Violence is shown in movies, yet it seems okay to have actors and athletes as role models, but it isn't okay to have someone who combines both as a role model? People have role models for many reasons, why judge?

Wrestlers CAN be a role model the same as sports figures, actors, or any other profession. People like HBK, Sting, Molly Holly, and others are people it would be great to be like. Yes there are some wrestlers that are totally a mess but that is the truth with doctors, lawyers, and teachers.

They can be. Back in the 80's Hulk was a great role model. He was champ, had his own cartoon, and wrote words of encouragement in a Bible version aimed torwards helping pre-teens and teens understand the Bible. He was also against durgs and wanted kids to be natural athletes.

As for the females, Elisabeth was a natural beauty, but her personal life wouldn't yield a role model nomination.

I have watched wrestling for over 20 years and know quite alot about the history of it and the individuals who brought it from nothing to something. Considering all of the female competitors, who would be your role model? Mae Young, Moolah? Trish, Lita? Role models provide inspiration to which we model our behavior and character to them. Terry Bollea and Dwayne Johnson have done much with their lives in and outside of wrestling, not to mention their contribution to charity. I can't recall much on the female side.

It's just that there are probably 546,980,000,000 better role models on earth than them.
I mean a tree can be a role model, it doesnt mean its a good one.

I love wrestling, but if i couldnt find a better person to idolize or make a role model, i would find myself depressing.
