Any hard drive that will fit can go in it.

You need what is called a 2 1/2 inch IDE drive. They are the same size in length and width, but may vary in height. The m700 (I have two of them) has a limited height. Most new drives on the market will be thin enough to fit.

Before you can install the drive, you will have to remove the old one, and take the little "tray" off the old drive (which is held to it by a sticky "paper" on the bottom of the drive. Also have to move the adaptor on the back of the old drive to the new one. It is not that difficult.

Plus the BIOS in the computer limits you to a size of 80 gig. If the drive is larger then that, you will have to partition it so that all partitions are under 80 gig in size.

Hope that helps....

Most 2.5 inch IDE disk drives smaller than 60Gb should work fine in your laptop. Here is a link to one I found that would work at a local computer store. http://www.cpu.com/product.php?ID=1061
