There are times when you've got to "fight fire with fire."

Why? I think we could use ours (which by the way are a little more humane) to defeat them. We defiantly have the intelligence to do it. We just want to play by the "rules" as best we can even when our enemies don't.
Using their tactics would lower us to their level.

To the extent that we are not dehumanising ourselves in the process, like the USA is, by handing suspected terrorists over to countries that are known to use torture, as a means of getting information from them that they would not otherwise be able to obtain. Contact your Congressman or Senator and complain, promising to vote against them in the next election, and to ask your friends and relatives to do the same!

if we do not have the force to overwhelm them

- if the odds are about equal or we are outgunned (outnumbered or whatever) it is better to use the enemy's tactics against them.

Not sure how to answer this one. If you mean enemies as in war, then I stand mute. If you mean enemies as in those who mean us harm in daily life, then my answer is "kill them with kindness".
