You can't and you shouldn't try because it could cause infection in your baby and you could possibly even harm or kill your unborn baby. Just wait it out like the rest of us do. I carried 41.5 weeks. I know how bad it can be!

That can be very dangerous!!!! You could seriously hurt yourself or the baby or cause an infection... You are not even term, which is 40 weeks. Average 1st pregnancies are 41 weeks 1 day and pregnancies with prior births average 40 weeks 3 days. You and your baby are NOT ready or you would be in labor. You will increase your risk of c-section, and with each c-section you put yourself at a higher risk of infertility, ectopic pregnancy, as well as, placenta previa & placenta abruptia, hemorrhaging, etc... Even a hysterectomy (the surgical removal of your uterus)!!!
PLEASE WAIT!!!
See these books as soon as possible:
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
The Expectant Parents Guide to Preventing a Cesarean Section by Carl Jones
You really need to wait!!!

Find a swiming pool to go to, when you get in the water, you dont even feel pregnant! It is very soothing.
Or try a nice bath that covers your belly so it is supported.
Yoga is a great way to relax and bond with your baby.
See if there are any pregnancy yoga classes near you...
There are videos probably at your local library....
Sex isnt excatly what causes labor, its the prostaglnadins in the sperm that do it.....ANd you should reserach that because I'm not sure if that works when youre already in labor or if it starts it.
I would suggest lots of walking too.
sorry youre uncofortable. Please wait till your baby is ready, or discuss with your DR. if you are concerned otherwise....
Good Luck.

My water never broke on it's own. Don't do anything this risky to induce labor. Try the "natural" types of getting the body ready like walking and sex, but don't try to break your own water. Even if you water breaks this doesn't guarantee contractions. You still may be induced to start contractions and move along labor. I had a friend who had many complications because her water broke but labor would not progress, infection set in. She was near emergency c-section point when finally the labor progressed to pushing stage. Once your water breaks your baby has to be born in a certain amount of time. Not days later...

I'm glad I read this question and the answers. I was feeling the same way, 38 weeks pregnant and miserable but reading some of the answers makes me want to wait till it just happens on its own. I have painful contractions every day and night but never go into active labor. I have not slept for longer than 4-5 hrs per night in weeks! It's wearing me down but I want my baby to be ready and healthy more than I want sleep and comfort for myself.

Breaking your own water isnt a good option, there's a high risk of infection or you might miss and do major damage to the baby and you.
Try castor oil and orange juice (old wives remedy).....this will taste disgusting but should get things moving.
Becareful what you wish for.......labour is a killer! lol

The safest way to have this baby is to wait the two additional weeks. You are possibly compromising your child's health by delivering early. If you have a need to be induced, your doctor will discuss your options with you and you can make an informed decision.
The lungs and immune system are finishing up development right now. Don't you want your child to be the healthiest it can be?

Babies certainly come when they are ready and not when you are.. there are some safe ways to help nature along .. including gentle sex, sperm has a element that can help to thin and soften the cervix, make sure that you take walks and relax as much as you can. You should also speak to your doctor or midwife about how you are feeling and just remember ... it is sometimes easier when they are inside at least you know where they are and they dont scream at you ;) just kidding they are worth it all but take this time to rest and sleep as much as you can. good luck

They tell you that you can "up your chances" by walking, sex, nipple stimulation, I have even heard drinking raspberry tea-- but with all honesty I don't think there is anything you can do to make it happen any faster. Sorry :( I just had a baby in October- so I KNOW the feeling (those last couple weeks are terrible!) Hang in there- soon enough your little one will be here:)
