When I was younger, I found running five to seven miles helped. Now, just being be myself or going for a hike seems to renew my spirit. What works for you?

That depends entirely upon how much of me it has gotten.

If I'm down, I often find myself with my sketchbook writing/drawing. If it's warm enough, I gravitate towards water (lake/river/creek/pool). If it's chilly, I usually put on a pot of tea and something warm and soft.

If I've been down for a month or two, I find myself with the same sketchbook, in the same places, but with the addition of alcohol.

If I've been down for a year or two, I come to in the hospital and wonder how the hell I got there, and if I have the strength to fight it off again.

I like to be near water. I used to go to the ocean when I lived close. Nothing in the world makes me feel better.

Now, I'm 10 hours away from a beach. So, I take a hike about 1/2 mile to the nearest pond. Water really calms me.

I go for a long walk at night by myself or lie down on my driveway and look up at the stars. Something about being out at night, alone with that big starry sky, seems to help shrink my problems down to size.
If I can't go outside, I go in my bathroom, lock the door, sit on the floor and cry.

little weird, but sometimes, oddly enough, giving myself my own little pep talk helps. outloud. hearing the words being actually spoken makes things come into focus, and since i know exactly whats going on, i don't feel like someone's just butting in and giving me stupid help. lol, but when someone catches u talking to yourself outloud, make sure they understand u don't think u are two people, or anything like that
