What pop, rock, or jazz songs can be used as bedtime lullabies for putting baby to sleep? In other words, soft music that even adults can enjoy. Here's one that I find works for me: the medley "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World" by the late Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Any others?

You didn't say reggae, but I always found Bob Marley to have a good beat for rocking babies. Our daughter likes Buffalo Soldier.

Norah Jones is great. My son loved it when I played her CD, still does. We also have a James Taylor CD that he loves.
And oddly enough the boy likes AC/DC too. Not very soft and lullaby-ish.

Specific songs that he/we liked:
American Pie-Don McLean
Into the Mystic-Van Morrison
Sweet Home Alabama-Lynrd Skynrd
At Last-Etta James
Beautiful Boy-John Lennon
Tiny Dancer-Elton John

Putumayo has a GREAT selection of all different styles of music. I enjoy it cleaning the house or just relaxing. With the selection they have you are sure to find something that will suit you and your child. They may even have a 'radio' channel you can preview the music on before you buy. It has folk, celtic, blues, reggae, african, brazilian...you name it

When my child was unable to sleep, my husband discovered that watching a *Rick Wakeman* DVD was the perfect cure. It never failed that if she started crying at night, and nursing her wasn't going to make her happy, all he had to do was hold her and watch the DVD. After a while they would both be asleep.

Rick Wakeman is a keyboardist. I attribute my daughter's musical interest to her father & Rick Wakeman's early influence in her life.

Percy Sledge we used to put my little brother to sleep with it, and I also used it with my son. My mom actually gave me a Percy cd at my baby shower!

I know it sounds corny but a little Kenny G might work.

Beethoven etc...
It may even calm you!
No harm trying it!
