I was told you can start potty training a baby at about 10 months if their walking, my mother-in-law told me she potty trained my husband around 11 months, he was walking around 10.......my son is already walking holding on to stuff.....but I don't see the rush, I know it'll be cheaper, but still my son is already growing up to fast....

They have to be ready. Its useless to fight them if they're just not ready yet. I tried a few times but my son wouldn't do it. Right before his 3rd birthday we tried again and he was completely trained within 2 1/2 months. That's a little bit late I think but every kid is different.

I am amazed that anyone could train a child less then 1 year. Most children are completely trained by 3. I have found the average to be 2 or so.. and 2 1/2 for night times. Just like kids walk and talk at different ages, potty training will happen at different ages.. I don't believe in pushing it.. I have one grandson that took his diaper off at 13 months and said 'pee?' but he isn't trained completely yet and turned 2 Jan 2. He started off early and i guess he changed his mind...

You can potty train at about 1 1/2 to 2 thats when my sister started and the baby only took two weeks and got it. but my brother tried to potty train at 11 months and he didnt get it for 6 months. But it all depends on your child so learn early and some it take's time.

They will start to show signs when they are ready. They may begin to get curious about the potty, want to take off their diapers, ask for grown-up pants, etc. There is not a proper age--each child is different and you shouldn't force them to go to the potty until they are comfortable. Otherwise, they may become afraid of the toilet. You are correct in saying you don't see the rush. Most children are typically potty trained before 3 years of age.

Personally any time before the age of 2 takes more of a toll on you than having to buy diapers It's been my experience that they aren't really with it before then. Sure there are exceptions to the rule....and ask your MIL when your husband was actually potty trained.
You may want to mention "using the potty" to your son just to see if he shows interest,

There is not any ideal age, however anything between 18 and 24mo is excellent. Simply take it handy and skim the tons of different questions and answers on here about potty coaching. So long as you do it gently it must all go pleasant. Seems like you're on the right monitor. :)

Boys are harder then girls!! They dont usually begin to be even interested until arround 2 - 2 1/2 or so... Normal age is almost 3! Girls on the other hand... I've heard as young as 15 mons. Dont rush him. It could cause serious problems. If anything buy a potty... sit it in the room with you while you and dad use and invite him in too. Let him get himself interested. He'll show signs whens he ready. He'll start telling you when he went etc. If hes not talking... I doubt he can control his bodly functions.

I have heard that boys learn potty training later than girls. For example, my brother and I have a 14 month difference. When I was around 1 1/2 my mommy stated potty triaining me and ten ym brother was like 2 years old that time. If your son is growing fast like you mentioned, it's ok to make him potty trained. There is not going to be any misleading situation.

I started trying to potty train my daughter at 18 months and she just was not ready. She started showing signs around 26 months, then she told me one day she didnt want to wear diapers anymore and she has never worn another, not even at bedtime. Every child is different. I would suggest not forcing your child into potty training, it will only prolong the process. Your son will let you know when he is ready.GOOD LUCK!!!

You can start by introducing the bathroom to him. But no matter what you do or how much training you try he'll start when he's ready. The first child usually takes longer than the second to potty train.
