Strong minds talk about ideas Weak minds talk about people That is the quote I think of when I’m judged by someone is supposed to be my equal. Sure I’m different from the norm, different from the others But we are family we are all sisters and brothers We’ve shared history together Did you forget about the cotton fields, the ships, the stormy weather? Doesn’t that count for something? Oh, I forgot that was the past so that’s nothing Here and now you’re clowned because you don’t wear Jordan’s and Baby Phat In the words of MLK judge me by the content of my character not by the clothes on my back I enunciate my words and I speaking white it’s not a white or black thing it’s just I am speaking right You call me a sellout because I choose not to surround my self in ignorance I tried that route, I sticking with knowledge, you had your chance. So you go ahead judge me by the way I talk, walk, and dress I am still not changing I’ll continue to let my ideas rise to the surface

You are so good! This poem needs to be read in schools, and I am not trying to get the 10 points I really mean it. You do MLK proud he was and is one of my heros and role models, I was 13 when he was assainated, oh what a loss. I went to inner city schools as well and believe me the followers who had to be like others ended up the losers. Always be the leader U R! Remember what once was last will one day be 1st!!! You are right not to judge others, remember the ones always judging R the ones who R really angry with who they are!

That's WONDERFUL!! Bill Cosby is of the same mindset. Speaking correctly, conducting yourself as an intelligent member of society, and not becoming a stereotype.
Keep letting those "ideas rise to the surface". I wish life wasn't such a struggle for you. Why is it so hard for a white woman to be uneducated, and for a black woman to be educated? These things I'll never understand.
God Bless!!

I like it; it reminds me of lyrics that Arrested Development might sing about.

Stay strong...keep up the education :)
