I have to give a 5-7 minutes presenation on this theme. I have my research, but what is a good way to present it besides just reading it?? Any idea will get me on the path to something. I need a creative way to do it to not bore the class. Thank you in advance!

FYI:

Gothic Novels are fictional, dark, horrific, mysterious, supernatural, dreadful, 18th century novels (such as "The Castle of Otranto"). They usually take place in castles, mansions, abbeys, etc. with characters such as ghosts, demons, death, mystery, magician, vampires, etc. I know it sounds similar to horror, but it came before those type of books came out.

One way that always worked for me was to present the information from the point of view of another character in the book other than the protagonist(s).

Something else that went over well was writing a "news article" about the events of the book. You might create a short newspaper with your article as the front page story, and hand out copies to your classmates.

Dramatizing a key scene in the book with the help of a friend is always intersing, and gives you a great excuse to dress up.

I never did this, but when I was in college a classmate created sort of comic book that illustrated major events in a book he was presenting. He had the illustrations transferred to slides (showing my age...these days you'd use PowerPoint or something similar), and showed the slides to the class while narrating the events of the story.

Just think outside of the box. In my experience, teachers are so grateful for a little creativity (after probably years of hearing reports read aloud), that they give students with some intitative a lot of leeway.

You can do what one of my professors once did and dress up like George Sand, but I don't think anyone will get it.

One good way to do presentations like that is to not give people the subject of your speech until the very end. Tell the story in a dramatic fashion, than tell people that THAT was what gothic novels were all about, thereby dispensing with preconceived notions.

Wear an outfit to go along with your presentation like a vampire costume or something similar. Also bring a few examples of gothic novels with you.

If you have written any gothic stories you could read some of your writting to the class or read an excerpt from one of the books you brought... to get them interested in it.

Maybe buy some novelty blood capsules and break them in your mouth while making the speech?

Perhaps you should read them.
