You obviously know nothing about prison. Prisoners are NOT prescribed any drugs, let alone "better" ones. However, street drugs are widely available in prison, mainly the white powders, because corrupt officers are paid well to carry them in. A lesser amount is passed during visits. The drug that is hard to obtain in prison is alcohol, and I have known more than one alcoholic prisoner switch to hard drugs while inside.
Prison officers are actually very well paid, compared to others in the public sector, and one reason for this is to discourage bribery and corruption. But however much they get, it's never enough to deter a few b*stards from becoming drug dealers in uniform.

properly interior the U. S. punishment can't be merciless and unusual, so the addicts that ought to die from going chilly turkey must be weaned off the drug(s) the perfect way attainable. The technique to apply for some thing of the drug abusers must be the single which receives the perfect outcomes. the single which keeps the most individuals from utilising again when they have stop. If chilly turkey is that technique, then which may be the single to apply. If it is no longer, then use the perfect one. to manage the merciless and unusual punishment, the soreness and war of chilly turkey would not be an element of their punishment, yet only a results of their drug abuse. inspite of what technique is used, it will be a lengthy, complicated street for an addict.

Hi Thomas
From personal experience I was under the impression that these drug addicts appear in court on virtually a daily basis, yet never really get sent to prison.
Whilst part of me wants to agree with you - there is another part of me that thinks they should all be given a bucket full of the stuff to do what they want with!
I think for the 'person' who called you a self righteous fool - its a shame he has to resort to insults.

The way to clear the prisons of petty criminal drug addicts is to stop treating a health problem as a criminal matter.
Stop arresting people for drug use.
Fund addiction-treatment facilities (now, if you say, "I'm a slave to this substance and I want out" you're told "Go away." That's just DUMB).
Legalizing drugs would remove 97% of the crime involved in drugs (taking drugs itself, and theft and murder commited for drugs and drug-pushing territory).
OK, 73.8 % of all statistics are made up on the spot, but still, the overwhelming majority of drug-related crime would go away if we legalized drugs.
Recreational drug use: not a problem. Drug abuse: medical problem.

Im sure your suggestion means well but all you have done is display your naivity and cultural ignorance. Everything you need to know is in the link bellow. Written in 1957 after many years of addiction William Burroughs became one of Americas greatest modern authors. A similar suggestion was made only a few months ago by a top Police officer only 50 years later.

Oh yes I so much agree, but I really think one month is too short for complete detox. The medical board here seem to think that there is a genetic reason for the failure of methadone, and are recommending that certain people in one catagory have a double dosage??????

you cannott help someone who dosen't want help. You have to remove a addict from his envioment to help him get clean you can't clean him up if you drop him right back in the old neighboorhood. There will never be a way to cure all drug addicts take it from one who knows
