Rodents are stinky creatures. No matter what you do, you're room will always stink. Air freshener or perfume will only cover it up for a little while. The smell will always be there. Rodents do not make good pets. What's the purpose of having one?

Get a better bedding such as carefresh, it's more absorbant and cedar is horrible for mice. I clean my cage two or three times a week to manage smell, and also because mice don't like sitting in their own poop any more than you like smelling it. Make sure the cage is not too small. I can't tell you exactly how perfume in an enclosed room would affect a mouse, but they are so small I would be cautious. I never spray anything in my room, and if I burn incense I turn on the fan and open the door and windows.

Wood shavings only absorb so much in a mouse's cage. You might consider putting a thin layer of some absorbant material underneith the shavings. Cat litter would be fine for a guinea pig but hamsters may eat it in an attempt to grind it's teeth. If your mouse burrows often this may not work. A thin dusting of baking soda may do the trick. The most efficient way of getting rid of the stench is to clean the cage daily if possible. with most rodents, the shavings should be removed and replaced daily, and the cage should be thouroughly washed (all other appliances inside too) once a week.

Mice smell horrible because they leave pee trails everywhere. This is how they find where they are going. (look it up) You are not going to get rid of that smell unless you disinfect the cage daily.

If you like rodents. Best to get a rat or hamster. They don't stink like mice do. As long as there cage is clean your room will not smell. And rats make better pets than mice do.

such pets require frequent cleaning of their cages. You can get some "Fabreeze air refreshener" (notto be confused with the other type fabreeze sprays) and spray that in your room. It will help BUT SPRAY AWAY from the cage area.

And for the record - we humans stink to animals, especially rodents. Oh the irony! LOL

alitle air freshener wouldn't hurt. nothing strong unless you remove the rodent first and leave him out for awhile. clean the cage and get him some cedar shavings to play in. you should have shavings in the cage anyhow.
