Yes it can. Internet explorer by default has a setting to delete history after so many days, and most cookies are set to last just so many days, and the cache file is set to use only so much disk space. check it out under tools/internet options.

That is impossible. Someone could set it to not "keep" history, and someone cook go in and delete their cookies, but a computer doesn't automatically do it because it stores everything.

Most, if not all, browsers can be set to delete those things whenever you shut the browser down, so that the next time you bring it back up, they are deleted. So it can happen automatically but it has to be set to do it that way.

You might not be able to access a variety of websites if there were such a setting. I don't believe there is.
