coming from an adult it will sound very funny but when i need a "pick me up", a good cry, or i am just tired of people and need to get my attitude towards others in check i will read "theres a boy in the girls bathroom." serious. the author escapes me right now. it is a childrens book and most people im sure could read in in a few hours but i think it is a really special story and wish young kids would all read the book-although i dont know if they would get it or care at that age. i know its strange. no thats not where my reading level is at!!

My favorite book I most enjoyed reading would be The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger. I enjoyed this book because when reading it, it brings out the immature side of you and the character is very honest. Not only that, it's also a classic.

My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durell.....a true
story of Gerald growing up on the Greek Island of Corfu
before WW11. He is the younger brother of Lawrence
Durell, the famous author and the book chronicles Gerald's
budding interest in all the new and strange animals,
bugs and birds found on the island when he was a boy
of 10. It also depicts his outrageous family and all the
famous guests that came over to visit from England.
It's written in a way that magically transports you to
their world through beautifully descriptive scenes that
will be in your mind for a long time. I've given it to
everyone I know and they've given it to everyone they
know.

All the Harry Potter books because I can escape to another world forgetting everything that's happening in real life. But other than that I enjoyed Pablo Coelho's books "The Alchemist" and "Veronika decides to die"...don't know why actually...I just did.

Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. His Lila is also damned good.
I have read ZAMM about twelve times in the past 30 years. I always see something else in it. I also have it on CD's, and have heard it a couple of times.
I would start with Lila, then read ZAMM.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez' Love in the Time of Cholera is a real hoot.

In Cold Blood. I love true crime, and this is a true crime novel AT ITS BEST! I don't believe there will ever be one better. It really personalized the victims as well as the perps. in a way that really made me hang in there with every character emotionally. I have read it several times since I was 15.

I like the Mates, Dates series by Cathy Hopkins. There's 12 books in the series. Her other series, which is Truth, Dare is also good.
