Whte attitude is this- Your free
I have seen alot of Racism among older white Americans.
I am becoming partially racist because of the way black Americans treat a black American that doesn't walk to the party line. throwing Oreos at black Republicans up for election. This is a racist thing to do. I am turning racist on blacks because they are showing racist tendacies and are not willing to confront them. we white Americans have. If a black man is called all a bunch of names by a white man or men all look at them and shame them. but if a black man is called names by a black man or men because of his race. Should not we look shamefully at these men too.

As a white child of the south, I grew up realizing there was a certain amount of inequality between the races. The older whites , my parents included, tended to place the blame on Af. Am. inability to just get over the past and move on. I can see some creedence to that argument. Many of my black friends were greatly influenced by their own parents rightful resentment over obvious racism in the 50's and 60's. Likewise, my white friends and I were and are influenced by our parent's views whether we agree with them or not. I don't think freedom is any longer the question but equality. I think most white Americans, when honest with themselves, would admit that the playing field is still not entirely equal. That being said, I have seen instances when Af. Ams., having been given the same opportunities as I, have squandered those opportunities because of perceived "racial injustice". Sometimes I think it is used as an excuse for blatant laziness. I think some of this laziness comes from parents who blamed whites for their inability to move up the ladder. I think much of this blame is well-founded. I also think that this attitude being passed on to younger generations only fosters discontent and further "laziness", which may just be their way of saying "screw you" to "white society". Either way, it's African Americans who lose by that attitude. In summary, I think most whites, wish most AAs thought like Bill Cosby and would not let the past hold down the future.

HAHA, you're sure to get a range of answers here.

Thinking people are for the freedom and amancipation of everyone. Many (most?) white Americans are thinking people and ahear to this type of philosophy. Nonetheless many whites fear blacks because of the greater (perceived) percentage of criminals within the black population. There may be many explanations for such a perception, but it is commonly held among whites.

So this is one issue holding the communities apart. Overall though most people are happy with a color blind society and actually enjoy integrated neighborhoods and schools more then all white ones.
