Which one could survive without live (maybe not dead) animals for food? And doesn't cost that much and would be the best pet.

I would not get a pet then subject it to the stress of a 2 day car trip.

When you are done with the trip, the things that need the least 'live food' are:
- Tortoises need a little meat, but that can be offered by soaked cat food (weight maintenance formula), lots of space, and a lot of heat and either high or low humidity.
- Iguanas don't need meat, but need a LOT of space- mostly verticle- and a lot of heat and humidity.
- Bearded dragons do mostly veggies, also high heat, low humidity.

To start out, I would recommend a cornsnake or a ratsnake. Cornsnakes have many different colors and patterns they come in and you can find some really beautiful animals. They usually runt between 50 and 80 dollars. If you get a baby, you can house them in a small plastic cage with a small light mounted on the top. The set up I got for my daughter was about $120.00 after I got the snake, a cage, a light, bedding, a water dish, and a hide. It was a small snake and it hadn't been held much so it has taken a little in getting it to calm down and not bite at me and hiss. But in a few weeks it has really been calming down. Tonight I was able to feed it and not have a problem at all.

I also have a red tail boa that is the sweetest and calmest snake I have ever seen. I can do just about anything with him and he has never, ever acted aggressive toward me. The only thing is that when fully grown, he'll probably be about 10 feet long and there is alot that goes into trying to care for a snake that big, so if you don't think you could care for one like that, don't get it. A cornsnake isn't going to get bigger than 6 feet and it stays thinner than a boa or python.

For non living food- Most snakes and turtles would be ok. Frogs and lizards tend to need live jumping food or they won't eat it.
If you buy a snake, make sure you get one that eats fresh thawed food so you can just defrost a mouse when it is time to feed it. Snakes can be a bit more expensive though, depending on the species.
Aquatic hard shelled turtles will usually eat turtle pellets. I had three soft shell turtles (two smooth and one spiny) and they would only eat live food or krill, which is kind of expensive for how much they waste of it.
I have owned all 4 of them and my favorite probably is a snake.

You can hold a turtle- just make sure to wash your hands afterwards. If they have less than a 4 inch carapace, they have a pretty good chance of carrying samonella.

Turtles cost alot of money to get your set up started. We paid about $300 for our water turtles and all the stuff it needed. land turtles cost alot more than water ones. plus taking it on a 2 day car trip isnt good either. you can hold them, but there more of a look and watch kinda pet. and most get to be very large. i would try out something little first, like a frog, or little lizard.

Get a hedgehog. they're rather very candy little creatures, and you will even develop into acquaintances with them to the element that they are going to 'unroll' once you p.c.. them up so which you would be able to rub their bellies. they have 'sharp pokers' as a exchange of fur on their tops, yet they have comfortable stuff (no longer fur, yet 'hair' it is hollow) on their tummies. The benefit to a hedgehog is that its heat and exciting. The reptiles are all much less social animals ... apart from iguanas ... yet for the reason that your super super Nana has a small animal, you won't be able to get an iguana via fact they're aggressive. So get a hedgehog. And by skill of how, you have a cat, or you have a chihuahua yet you may't have a 'circulate' or 'blend' of the two, for the reason that a cat is a cat and a chihuahua is a canines and that they are in a position to't interbreed. I advise you enhance up somewhat greater and take a inspect loving your relative's puppy for now and get the hedgehog once you're somewhat older ... yet you're extremely splendid to ask for a competent 'puppy form' right here ...

one thing , if you get a pet snake then its not easlier to take care of . you have do get alot of foods to feed it all the time least daily you have do buy or hunt for alive mices to feed it to a snake . cant be dead one cause snake like to hunt their foods , they do need a place where they can move around all over and they do shad skins during the hot weather . i think there are few thing s about them too but i had never had one for a pet but my brother had and his roommatie had one too .

well if you get a frog that will be a good pet theyre easy to take care of but they might needed some things to stay alive are their foods habits are alive flies, worms, ants, bugs, ect.
but i dont think you can find some intects at the store just had to looks some outside in the yard .

for turtles are good pets and theyre not hard to take care of much , you just need to keep it in a cage or glass tank with green weeds grasses and a water , with foods .
lizards are good pet too but i dont know if they do stay alive longer . what kind of lizards are you talkin about . theyre all kinds ones out there .

you can try go to the pet smart or pet shop see what kind of animals they do sell low prices and how much everything else will cost you if you do want buy one of those pets there.

Lizards are probably cool, but I think Turtles migt be too much work, including frogs?? and Snakes, so i really couldn't answer your question, get a regular pet, it may be less hassle, or more, but everything would pay off eventually. I dunno, whatever you want to do...
