Not all kids can spell properly. They take shortcuts. I am still getting used to the computer and I have trouble with the commas.I know there should be be in words like dont. Also there are many people on this from different nationalities that do not speak English. I wascriticised for telling someone off because they were not spelling properly on the computer and it was something to do with essays.Sometimes its good to have your essays checked by another person because speling and puncuation is pretty important and teachers mark you down for it.I come from a background of teachers so I do know.My daughter was in year 6 and the teachers were tough on spelling and their sentences were marked down for 1 simple error. Yes I am in partial agreement with you. There is spellcheck on the computer.

I think that nowadays with all the IM and SMS language teens are using all the shortcuts. I think it will make them having difficulties when writing an official letter when the e.g. need to apply for a job. Schools need to be aware to put great attention to grammar development.
Concerning people writing questions here that don't have English as their first language ( like I ) will at least need to be able to write the question in an understandable way, you can't really blame them on making grammar mistakes, because a lot of native English speakers will have an even more harder time writing sentences in other languages, at least they try to learn a second language. ( which takes time to develop)

Number 2: There are alot more worse things than bad spelling.
Number 3: Is it affecting your life in anyway just because someone spells a word wrong?

It can be annoying but good spelling is not great intellectual thought - it's just a habit. Kids who have serious problems are in a hurry to tell the story and get some advice. They're used to text messaging. They sometimes think that they're only telling their story to other kids so they think it doesn't matter on this website. I'm sure all ages read this category. But kids aren't aware of that.

Lots of people who have other languages other than english as their first language give us much more trouble than the teens who like to use internet slang, or slightly misspelled words. Some of their posted questions are completely incomprehensible, so be grateful that these teens don't make sentences like that!!! By the way, misspelling is one word. You don't miss spell a word, you misspell a word!! lol

Mm typical teeny bopper stuff. Some even type with uP aNd dOwn LeTteRs (or maybe they haven't fully mastered the function of the shift key yet). I went through that phrase and use to type like that as well. But I think as they grow older their spelling and grammar usually improves.

relax! in the professional world it's just called typographical error. you can do something about it and correct it because both the *thesaurus & *spell checker dialogue boxes are present when typing. you just have to be conscientious & thorough. check your grammar, punctuations, conjunctions & tenses too. i can see that with the question you asked. there are guides which can help you hands-on, they're called : a) Speak Better Write Better; b) business correspondence. good luck!

Yes! I am! I have to admit though, I do spell words wrong sometimes, but people who say like, "OMG wuts da matta wit dis gurl" just bother me! Also, people who have bad grammar! It just makes me want to put them in a Grammar Class! I totally agree with you!

It especially bothers me when people spell "cool" like "kool" because it's the same amount of letters. How difficult is it to spell properly?
