You don't want Soap--soap fill leave in residue that will attract dirt. what you want is a Detergent. Go look in the carpet cleaner area of your grocery store. For the price of a couple cans at the automotive store you can get gallons of something that works as well (rug doctor, hoover, bissel--ect). For oil/ grease you can use electrical contact cleaner or hot shot stain remover---but please no smoking

no soap: use a carpet shampoo.there is a lot of good carpet cleaners at most large stores and auto parts stores. a mechanics waterless hand soap is good for grease then shampoo the spot. be sure it is dry before walking on it.

well I would recommend DAWN dish detergent for grease just don't soak the carpeting too much , just enough to create a good lather with a brush and maybe use a shop vac that does water.

the best i have found it TOUGH STUFF,it is a foaming cleaner,just spray it on,let it foam and wipe it off.its the best i have ever seen,i have used it for years
