Generally it's not a question of integrity. It's one of reliability. Imagine you have two people and both are equally qualified. But A. owes $10k in debt and B. doesn't.
A is less likely to be distracted by debt and/or have other complications that might get in the way of the job.
A is less likely to take off for another job just because it pays better.
I'm not saying it can't be discriminatory but if one must use an indicator better this than where you live, gender, etc... Credit scores do not (cannot legally) use those things so they are objective at least.

I have to agree. I think credit checks should be against the law when applying for a job. You never know what situation someone might have been in which caused them financial difficulties. I don't believe it's reflective of how hard someone will be willing to work for you. The criminal check yes but credit....it's not relevant for most positions.

Empoyers are not aalowed to check credit for job employment, that is personel information and in most cases has nothing to do with job performance. However if you give up your right to privacy by filling in the info you have given consent and thereby waved your rights. If you think it is unfair and want to persue the matter contact your state attorny general.

the reason the employer is doing a credit check is for security reasons if for instance you have hot checks and are in need of money they dont want to hire you because you may steal down the road to pay your bills

Because people who have bad credit, have broken contracts and promises to pay debt. An employer wants someone who is honest, and will honor their committment. They are trying to run a business and want good employees.
Bad credit does not just happen to people. They have to do something to "earn" it.

Depends on the job - I, for example, would throw you out for not knowing it's "cinnamOn," noy "cinammin" - I despise people who speak only one laqnguage and even that they doo poorly & can't write properly. People with lousy financial situation are susceptible to bribe & potentially unreliable; also, probably irresponsible.

Your entire history is of interest to employers.
If you were hiring someone you would be interested in their character.
