Validation and approval are two different things.

I want VALIDATION because to be validated is to be supported and understood as a PERSON.

To be APPROVED of is to be GIVEN PERMISSION as a CONSUMER by those in CONTROL .

No, I simply want tolerance and acceptance as a HUMAN being. I don't care if anyone "approves" of me or what they insist is a "lifestyle." (What the heck is a Gay Lifestyle anyway?)

Just give me what I DESERVE as a CITIZEN and a HUMAN BEING!

I personally do not think the majority of hetersexuals need to give approval. I believe it has more to do with the ones that believe we need it. Most people I know, no matter the preference leave well enough alone. On the same note though, an argument can be established that homosexuals desire the approval. I myself do not, but there are people that go out of their way to push their views onto others. "Accept us or else."
I do not think people should have negative feelings towards homosexuality, but people are still entitled to their opinions if it does not interfere with the well being of a subject.

I think for a lot of straight people, it's a well-meant wish to show support for a group that has tolerated an awful lot of intolerance all throughout history.
I can see how gays would probably just like to be left alone to live in peace and privacy without having to defend or explain themselves to the rest of the world.
At some point in the future, I think they will be able to. At this point in history, straight people are still becoming accustomed to the new visibility and growing acceptance of a lifestyle straight people don't always understand.

It has to do with swaying them to vote in our favor on Election Day... This why I think it's wrong for everyone to vote for LGBT issues... We will never "win" their approval enough to get the change in laws we need. There's got to be another way. That why I really don't care about political stuff. If I'm in love with someone enough to marry them, I will do it. I will create what I want without the approval of anyone, or law.

I don't need any straight person's approval. I come out all the time so that the public can meet 'real' gay people. It's each one teach one.

They do have a right to their opinion, they have a right to have religions that say gays are sinners. BUT they do not have a right to use force on another person. (using the government IS using force btw) So without any legal bindings..

You can't use force to make them accept you.
They can't use force to control your life.

The gay community is an oppressed group. We need to tell people your freedoms are no different than anyone else.

My personal opinion, not being gay is.. well, Mark Twain expressed a simple view of people's personal relationships. That is, "I don't care what you do, as long as you don't scare the horses." You are free to live your life as you choose.

People "should" accept them, but by no means should we force them to. (as it wouldn't work anyhow.)

I don't want their approval or even their acceptance. What I want is to be viewed as an equal. Someone, who though I might be different from them, still has an equal right to be here.

To be quite honest, frankly, I want approval in all areas of my life, including my sexual orientation, and from all people, including straight people. I think it's human condition to want people to like and respect your life and the way you live it, to whatever degree you need or care for that (some people too little, some people too much, whatever).

The only problem is when straight people think that by not giving us their 'approval' that they're hurting us in any way- that gives power to those who only want to hurt us.

No, I don't give a rat's a.s.s. what anybody thinks about me, whether they be gay or straight. And I don't need anybody's approval. The only person's approval I seek is God's.

I myself don't need anyone to approve. I am me. We are all here for the same reasons...to live and be loved.
