If you want to do your own Battery troubleshooting and repair there are a few things you should know. With the engine off a fully charged batt. voltage is 12.8 vdc. With the engine running, the voltage across the batt terminals should be at least 14.5 vdc. You will need an accurate digital volt meter for these measurements.

Check to see if you have the battery connected correctly. Make sure that your connectors are clean and in good shape. Check battery cables at both ends to make sure of a good connection. Check starter relay and ignition switch. You can check the starter by jumping both contacts on the starter. If it turns over then your starter is good. I hope that this helps.

It could be a charging problem but also check for something drawing current when the car is parked. Is there something in the lighter socket? Does the alarm go off a lot?

Sounds like a short somewhere. Probably voltage regulator, most cars now have the voltage regulator built into the alternator, there is no way to repair it you just have to replace the alternator.
