I am trying to do a partial water change, I already got out 25% of the water but know. How do I make the tap water the same temperatute as the water in the tank?

ok here's what you do-
get a plastic baggie and some of the water that is already in the tank with the fish.

put the fish in that water in the baggie

change the water in the tank

float the baggie at the top of the tank of new water for about 15-20 minutes, then pour them out of the bag into the tank.

this makes the water reach an equalibrium over time, and the fish won't feel a thing, and this way they won't go into shock when you put them quickly into water that is a different temperature.

have fun cleaning that aquarium

Becuase your changing only 25% of the water its okay to go ahead and add the tap water as it is, the aquarium heater (you do have one right?) will handle the rest.

I am sure you know this but it is a good idea to treat tap water with a cleanser to remove the chlorine and other anti bacterial agents. Tap water has small amounts of this stuff so it does not become harmful to human drinkers, unfortunately fish like their water in a dirty glass if you know what im saying.

My prefered tap water cleaner is called PRIME. It comes in a red bottle and can be found at any fish shop.

If you want to be precise, you use a thermometer. You really don't need one though. Just use your own built in thermometer, your arm. Put your arm or elbow into the water in the tank. Then go to your water source and adjust the temp pretty close to what you felt in the tank. Replacing 25% water, you can be off a few degrees and it won't greatly affect the fish.

Just run it through the tap and put a therm. in the bucket while you are filling it to get it as close to the tank water as you can, it doesnt have to be exact. If its off by 5-10 degrees its ok.

An easy way would be to check the temperature of your aquarium water and then adjust the tap water to the same temp. I am assuming that you will add water conditioner if this a freshwater aquarium. If a saltwater set-up, then salt will have to be added.

Dechlorinate the water and either put your finger in it and compare it with the tank's or use an aquarium thermometer. A few degrees won't matter for most freshwater fish. Have a nice day and don't sweat it. You will be just fine.

just add warm water dont worry about the temp the fish will stay near the bottom and no harm will be done. even if they swim at the top its fine cause there is water thats a temp they can handle

Not many fish are that super sensitive. Just use your hands to feel that they are close. 25% isn't much anyway.
