To be honest, I'd avoid the chains and go for something a little more upscale and locally owned. Esp. if you already have some food/wine knowlege. the pace will be a tad slower than a chain restaurant, but you'll work harder in other ways...ie, making sure salad/app forks are cleared before dinner is served, opening bottles of wine, etc. however, you'll make better tips because the tickets are higher and mostly, the clientele will be nicer than in a chain restaurant.

none. Restaurant work sucks. You would not believe what customers complain about to corporate office. It is very hard work for any position in a restaurant. The restaurant I work in gets slammed every Friday. the kitchen cannot keep up with the orders. The customers complain about the long waits. Then a manager comes out of the kitchen and says not to seat any one till the kitchen catches up. Then all hell breaks loose! But if you thrive on drama, you will love it.

Any restaurant with a bar and possibly a happy hour will be good. Find out the best hot spots in town for the weekends and during events like the superbowl and apply there.

If you want to be a waiter and make big tips, think about restaurants that serve a lot of alcohol.
Hoe about Cheesecake Factory? Or TGIFridays?

I worked for Landry's owned restaurants for 8 years, they are based out of Texas.
Joe's Crab Shack
Saltgrass
The Crab House
There are others, I just can't think of them...

i suggest just narrowing down the choices into the resturants u would enjoy working at most, which one has the most popularity, then which one is the best quality. restuarants w/ good quality generally make the best tips.
